You know well enough that cleaning the oven is no fun, especially when it involves elbow grease, expensive cleaning products and some nasty vapours. So you might want to contact someone who is a bit more familiar with the oven cleaning process.

What you should keep in mind is that you can cook a delicious lasagna in your slow cooker instead of the oven. It eliminates the drawback described above and still provides you with a delicious lasagna. The slow cooker is an often underappreciated appliance, which allows for some great recipes to come to life. Delectable lasagna is for sure one of them. The next time you decide to bring that to the table, use the slow cooker instead and see the difference. There is no change to the ingredients.

The ingredients:

  •  16 lasagna noodles;
  • Lasagna Recipe2 cups mozzarella;
  • 6 cups baby spinach;
  • ¼ cup parmesan;
  • 2 cups ricotta;
  • 2-4 cloves of garlic;
  • 3-4 crushed tomatoes;
  • ¼ teaspoon of black pepper;
  • 2 full tablespoons dried oregano;
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt.

The cooking:

First, you need to take care of the sauce. It is true that you can just go to the supermarket and grab something off the shelf. Pre-made red sauces are many, and they can all be used in this lasagna recipe. However, if you are a fan of cooking your food, then don’t hesitate to make your own. The recipe is easy: just combine crushed tomatoes with red pepper flakes, oregano, kosher salt, black pepper and garlic in a bowl. Based on what you prefer, you can also add in beef bouillon, chopped basil or onion. The extra flavour added is worth it.

Next, combine the Parmesan, Ricotta and mozzarella in a bowl. Make sure all three kinds of cheese are evenly distributed throughout the mix.

Then, grab a five-quart crockpot and pour a thin layer of sauce. Do it so that all you see at the bottom is red. Follow up with one layer of noodles till the sauce is completely covered. Next, add a cup and a half sauce, 2 cups of baby spinach and top it off with a cup and a half of the mixed cheeses. This layering process should be repeated two more times. On the top, add a layer of noodles and a cup of mozzarella.

Place the lid on your slow cooker and run the low setting for at least 3 hours. Monitor the lasagna. Once the top layer acquires a tender look, your meal is ready.

You will not only be impressed with the taste of the lasagna when you cook it this way, but you will also save yourself some oven cleaning hassle. Try it!
